Weber State University Hurst Center Retro-Commissioning
Targeted RCx effort in partnership with E/S3 Consultants on the Hurst Center for Lifelong Learning at Weber State University. The four-year-old building received LEED Silver certification, yet had high energy use and prevalent comfort issues. The RCxeffort utilized trend data analysis, spot measurements, and targeted functional performance testing, as well as thorough review and troubleshooting of the controls, to improve system performance and control-ability. The process uncovered 31 issues and opportunities ranging from mechanical issues to significant controls issues, which were remedied during the investigation or shortly after, and are currently being monitored to further fine tune and optimize the changes that were affected. Energy performance is predicted to result in a 38% reduction in energy usage, and less than a three-year simple payback.
